Hello, I am Heather Rudalavage a registered dietitian living and working in
Pennsylvania, just north of Philadelphia. I am so honored to be chosen as the featured
RD for the AAI blog!
I plan to post weekly blogs for the month of July. I hope you will
check back often and please let me know if there is something you want to know more
about. Any blog ideas you want to offer would be greatly appreciated. Keep those
comments coming!
I currently own Intuitive Nutrition, a business that I started less than 2 years ago. I am
here to tell you that if I can start a business after being out of the field for a few years
and while raising 3 young children, you can too - but, more on that in future blogs!
I use a non-diet approach called Intuitive Eating, (thank you Evelyn Tribole RD and
Elyse Resch RD!) with many of my clients and I get a lot of satisfaction from helping
clients begin to tune into their inner wisdom when it comes to eating well. Having 3 kids
has given me lots of experience when it comes to child nutrition, and when I get a
pediatric client I use a mix of personal experience and Ellyn Satter - love her!
When I am not shouting the benefits of intuitive eating from the rooftops, or at least from
my local Starbuckʼs which is where I see all my clients, I enjoy the outdoors, Yoga,
trying new recipes (The Pioneer Woman is my new favorite) spending time with my kids,
reading and knitting. I have to admit, I have small addictions to Paperback Swap,
Amazon, buying new yarn and Iced Tea.
For the most part I enjoy what I do. Being your own boss has many positives and some
negatives too. I love being able to read copious amounts of books and share ideas with
my clients, and I appreciate being able to work from home a lot of the time. Running a
business and having a family can be challenging, it’s true. When you own the business
you really never stop working, but at the moment, I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Thanks AAI for inviting me to be the feature RD blogger, I am looking forward to sharing
my thoughts with you.
Can't wait to hear more from you...I'm currently reading articles by Satter for my Child Nutrition class and Pioneer Woman is one of my favorite blogs! Thanks for sharing!
