This past week I had the opportunity to go to an eating disorder workshop by Remuda Ranch on “Mind, Mood, and Food: Integrating Neurochemistry and Nutrition with Eating Disorders”. Since the dietetic field that I am most interested in is eating behaviors and behavioral nutrition, this was a very interesting and practical workshop for me to attend. I learned a great deal of information based on scientific evidence from the speaker Dr. Ralph Carson. I also got to meet many other Registered Dietitians and medical professionals who work with clients who struggle with disordered eating on a daily basis.
I also had the opportunity about a week ago to attend ADA’s Nutrition Care Manual Webinar for dietetic students and interns. It was very informative about the Nutrition Care Manual and all of the different resources that it provides for interns, students, and registered dietitians alike.
Have you been to any nutrition or health related workshops, conferences, or webinars?
If your answer is yes, I hope that you agree with me that they are major contributors to our learning as students. Many times they provide us with valuable information that we will not learn in school. They also supply us with opportunities to network with RDs in our dietetic field of interest, which could lead to future job positions and help with our careers. Additionally, conferences and workshops are usually fun to go to. You get to meet many different people, learn the newest nutrition research, and sometimes try new foods and experiences in a new city.
Have you been to a nutrition conference hosted by ADA (like FNCE) or hosted by another group? Did you learn a lot? Do you have any conferences coming up in your area? We’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments section.
