I was looking in my calendar and realized that I only have five more weeks left in my internship. Time went by so fast after winter break! It seems like yesterday that I was still trying to feel my way through the internship and get acquainted with all the different assignments I had to do. At the same time I feel like I have grown a lot both personally and professionally. The internship has really brought out the skills I had developed as a student and made them even better. I think this last week my time management skills were really been put to the test. I was writing two different articles that I had to do a lot of research on. Sifting through the research and making sure I didn’t get caught up on little details can be challenging. It was especially frustrating when I found an article that would have fit perfectly with the theme of my writing but then it either wasn’t free or my school’s library doesn’t have access to it. Although it sometimes felt like a treasure hunt I did pull through it and had a great start to both of the articles.
So looking ahead I only have 3 more rotations left: business/entrepreneurial, burns, and pediatrics. But what I am really excited for this week is the California Dietetic Association (CDA) conference that I will be going to! I have never been to this meeting before so I’m not sure what to expect but I’ve heard a lot of great things about it. Plus I will be volunteering and attending the student mixer so I look forward to meeting a lot of new people. Next week I’ll have a lot more to report on since I’ll be telling everything that I got to see at CDA. Anyone else almost done with their internship? Or anyone getting ready to start theirs? Either way it’s a very exciting time!
