Featured Intern: Looking Ahead and Back

I was lucky enough to have this past week off from my rotation in celebration of Thanksgiving and I was very thankful this holiday to have those few days off!  Extra time meant I was able to relax and catch up on some of my assignments.  Since my internship is through a university and I’m technically a graduate student I get all the holidays and breaks that my school has (a definite plus so keep that in mind when choosing an internship).

I find myself in a similar situation that I was in last year; I’m prepping for the end of the semester.  By the end of the semester I will have completed two of my major rotations! This means I have to finish up all my planned experiences assignments for those two rotations.  So I am feeling that end of semester craziness where everything seems to be due at the exact same time.  In anticipation of this I have been trying to work ahead so I won’t get too crazy and overwhelmed.  I think I’m in the toughest part of my internship right now doing my clinical work so I have a few more difficult assignments that go along with it.  I’ve got my case study, which is a major part of this rotation, and I have a few assignments left to do for my graduate class mixed in.  But by the end of the semester I will have finished a good chunk of my internship…it’s so exciting!

Knowing I’m that one step closer to being a RD is exhilarating because before I know it I’ll be sitting for the RD exam.  Until then I’ll be working my way through the internship and getting ready for the holidays.  Anyone else feeling the craziness of the end of semester?  How do you deal with all the last-minute assignments?
