“Me Time” is a phrase I have used often especially during my undergraduate work. Now as an intern I unfortunately haven’t used it as much. “Me Time” is basically time I would take just for myself to do whatever I wanted. That whatever is almost always me settling down and reading a good book. As I have been working away during this internship I have lost some of that much needed me time.
Recently I have been trying to carve out some time in my day for myself and I have found that I am a lot happier and productive. I use to try and bribe myself by saying that if I just finished one more page of my paper I could read a few chapters in my book. An hour later I would still be reading and even farther away from completing that assignment. Then after a particularly hard day I treated myself to finishing my book and I wasn’t going to do any homework that night. Surprisingly after I finished my book I didn’t mind going back to do homework and it turned out to be a very productive night! So now when I get home I relax and unwind allowing myself some me time before I start working again and I see the results both professionally and personally.
Then just the other day I came across the “me” movement. This movement is just in time for the holidays and internship application season. The “me” movement is all about taking time out for yourself to focus on whatever nurtures your soul. I plan on heading over there to take the “me” pledge and I encourage you all to do the same. Even changing little things can really add up.
I'm so glad you found out about the me movement! it is a fantastic campaign that is SOOO needed! are you joining our twitter chat tonight (wednesday) at 9pm EST?
