Featured Student: FNCE

As many of you probably know, ADA’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo is happening in Boston right now. I haven’t gotten a chance to attend this conference yet, but I hope to attend next year! Professional meetings such as FNCE are a great way to not only take in tons of information, but to network as well. I can’t think of many other times when you have the opportunity to meet and talk with thousands of dietitians and other dietetic students or interns. It would be a great way to get first hand advice on the internship search, the actual internship experience, and (like I talked about last week) the hundreds of career opportunities registered dietitians have available to them. Besides getting to meet tons of people, you have the opportunity to attend sessions on various food and nutrition topics by some pretty amazing speakers or hear about issues that affect the profession. And then of course there’s the expo where hundreds of companies display their products and services which means there are also samples!

I know some dietetics programs require attendance of at least one FNCE meeting while others just strongly recommend it and it is clear why! There is so much to do and it is a great way to immerse yourself in the field of dietetics. You can check out more about FNCE on the website: http://www.eatright.org/fnce/

Have any of you attended FNCE before, or are you there now? How was/is your experience?
