What made someone decide to pick up this ugly, brown, furry rock and eat it?

-The kiwi is native to China and was actually called a Chinese gooseberry before someone decided that wasn’t very appetizing.
-Kiwis were introduced to the western world at the start of the 20th century.
-1970 was the first successful crop of kiwi harvested in California.
-Kiwis contain almost as much potassium as bananas and 1.5x the DRI for vitamin C.
-The largest producers of kiwi are Italy, New Zealand, Chile, France, and Greece.
