This particular study carried out at Florida State University consisted of nine people with prehypertension (men and women). The nine subjects received six grams of the amino acid L-citrulline/L-arginine from watermelon extract daily for six weeks. After the initial six weeks, all nine people showed improvement in arterial function and lowered aortic blood pressure.
On top of preventing hypertension- watermelon has many other health benefits:
· It’s packed with some of the most important antioxidants found in nature.
· Watermelon is rich in electrolyte sodium and potassium that we lose through
perspiration.
