Last week I mentioned my new initiative to purchase something I’ve never tried before each shopping trip. The other day on Twitter one of my favorite nutrition girls @RDtoBe caught my heart in 140 characters…she mentioned she made kale chips. She also relayed how to make them in a single tweet. They’re that easy!
Here’s how I made @RDtoBe ‘s kale chips:
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Rinse 4 large leaves and pat dry
- Chop and remove center ‘vein’: It’s okay if you leave them on the larger side they will shrink like crazy!
- Place kale leaves on pan (or Silpat as shown)
- Add salt and pepper
- Check after 5 minutes: Look for change in size and dry appearance
Carlene’s Notes:
I did find that the salt and pepper wanted to jump off most of the kale. If you have suggestions to make it stick, leave a comment!
Make double what you think you want…share with your roommates and store the rest in Tupperware when cooled.
Think outside the spice box: Next time I’m trying cayenne.

Any seasoning you add will not stick unless you drizzle them with olive oil or olive oil spray first.
