No, I’m not referring to finals coming up in the next month….
I’m talking about the REAL type of sweat…good ol’ hardcore perspiration.
Do you exercise? If you do, great. If you don’t, well, I’m sure you know that it’s good for you and you probably should. After all, the key to long lasting health and wellness isn’t just diet alone but also some form of exercise on most days.
The past few mornings it’s been unseasonably warm where I live so I took a run around my neighborhood. Mind you, I’m not a runner…so this was something new to me. I’ve also started walking my dog for about 10 minutes each morning. I must admit, those small acts have made my day SO much brighter.
When you think of exercise, what’s the first image that pops into your head? A treadmill, elliptical, or Stairmaster? A yoga or spin class?
But what about dancing? Bike riding through the park? Taking a walking tour of your city or place where you live? Trying a new exercise class, like kickboxing or Zumba. I love Nia, which is a mixture of dance, martial arts, and free expression movement. It makes me feel ALIVE, and I sweat way more in that class than pedaling away on a stationery bike.
What I’m getting at is that exercise means moving your body. There’s no rule that you have to be stuck inside a gym on a machine if that bores you (I know it bores me).
You’re more likely to keep your body moving when you’re smiling.
Happy moving!
