While flipping through a restaurant sector magazine I saw an advertisement. Picture a beautiful croissant sandwich, flaky layers, browned with the perfect ruffled lettuce leaf peeking out. Right next to the croissant I see “now made with whole grains”.
In a recent press release, ConAgra Mills has introduced ‘Ultragrain Whole Wheat Flour’ to grocery stores, since it was at one time only available to large corporations. What is so special about this whole-wheat flour is the patented process by which it is milled, producing a finer texture similar to white flour.
Below are the benefits of Ultragrain against refined white flour:
Increased nutrients
Lower starch
Increased antioxidants
Four to five times the levels of potassium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, B vitamins (niacin and thiamin) and fiber found in un-enriched refined white flour.
Make sure to see if you can find Ultragrain the next time you go to the grocery. Let me know if you try it!
