Daily Plate: Homemade Hummus

I need to brag for a second: My boyfriend makes amazing hummus. Now, I know that hummus is not rocket science—it’s cooking—but there is so much mediocrity out there that when you come across something special, you appreciate it that much more. Hummus is one of those simple foods that can be outstanding when done really well.

Sometimes, we team up in the kitchen—he’ll cook the beans while I roast the garlic—but I always leave the blender to him, as well as the addition of olive oil and lemon juice.

We recently made a late dinner out of fresh hummus with toasted whole wheat flatbread, grilled asparagus, broccoli, feta crumbles, and salad. It was the perfect light meal.
